The Prado in Santa Fe

From May to October 2017, the outdoor, educational exhibit consisting of high definition reproductions of 92 masterpieces of the Museo del Prado was on view, free, to the public in Cathedral Park, downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Curated by the head of didactic content of the Museo del Prado, Fernando Pérez-Suescun, and co-organized by American Friends of the Prado Museum, this exhibition was made possible by the generosity of host institutions in New Mexico: City of Santa Fe Tourism, New Mexico True, Spanish Colonial Society, Heritage Hotels and Resorts and New Mexico Multicultural Foundation.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the Ambassador of Spain, Pedro Morenés, Mayor of Santa Fe, Javier Gonzales, Consul General of Spain, Enric Panés, and the former Ambassador from the U.S. to Spain, Eduardo Romero.

With the aim to raise awareness and appreciation for the important cultural heritage of the Prado Museum, an estimate of over 100,000 visitors enjoyed the exhibition.
